Sheela Badnaam Hui

Sheela or Munni? The battle raged on discussion polls and online groups, until my analyst brain couldn't take it anymore, and had to do some hard-core research. Here's what I found (and no, I'm not making any of this shit up):

Web searches for Sheela ma'am predictably peaked in November 2010, when the song first started airing on TV, and more people seem to frantically be searching by the day. Further, it appears that rising searches for Sheela greatly outnumber searches for Munni, even when searches for Munni were at their peak (rising mid-July, peaked in September with Dabangg's release, rising again in November as people compared Munni to Sheela).

Does this suggest the demographic that are attracted to Sheela are more web-savvy than that attracted to Munni? Research shows searches for Sheela originate primarily in Kerala (pervs!), Rajasthan (repression) and Andhra (enough said). Further, the searches lean towards the pursuit of 'hot' pictures or videos. It just goes to show you that 100% literacy isn't always zindabaad.

On the other hand, searches for Munni originate in MP, Delhi, and Gujarat, and the poor music-loving souls from these regions are more often than not searching for just the song lyrics, even now, when they're reminded of her thanks to Sheela.

In conclusion, therefore:

1. Sheela leaves pervs thirsting for more, or is made memorable thanks to hormones, not harmony.

2. Munni attracts music-lovers, of the MP-Gujju variety. Or displays enough flesh in the song itself for further search not to be required.

3. Anything can be quantified and analyzed, and this is how MBA-buggers thrive. Thxbai.
