Broken

I don't need you to spoil me. I want you to want to.

I don't need you to make promises you can't keep. I want you to keep the ones that you do.

I don't expect you never to break my heart. I expect you to piece it back together after.

It doesn't take a genius to know cracks don't mend magically. It takes love to tell me you'll do it anyway.

Man-Eater on the Loose!

In the last 4 hours alone I've downed:

2 Corn Parathas
1 Cheese Sandwich
1 Muffin
1 Big glass - sweet lime juice
2 dumplings
1 Plate rice
1 Bowl Hot n Sour Soup
1 Plate pasta (note, with cheese sauce!)
4 Kaju Kathlis
2 Pieces of Cake
2 Flavors of Ice Cream

And no I haven't been starving or anything. I ate pretty similarly yesterday all the way till 12 am. Goddam summer. It makes me want to eat everything in sight. $*#&$*#&$*#&$* weight-loss plans!

நல்வாழ்த்துக்கள்!

Calling ridge gourd 'jhinga postho' is not gonna make it any cuter. It may be Bengali new year and we know Pather Panchali glorified poverty for several generations together, but ridge gourd??? How are you supposed to know your year will go well if you begin it in such abysmal taste?

Also, I may be full haiyya-Tamizh (note the zh!), but that doesn't mean I'm gonna want that hideous pachidi thing they force down our throats at new year's.... c'mon, that concoction is meant to taste like fourteen different things? That's just an excuse for bad cooking. Throw it into Macbeth, don't chuck it down my throat.

I've nothing to say about Kerala, the coconut and milk bit is funny on any day, not just new year's. And let SOME fish survive in the ocean no for a change, they needn't all be on your plate.

Finally, corny as it is (pun! pun! pun!), I've to say my favorite new-years-day traditional-food comes from Punjab. Give a man makki di roti and he's set for the year and many years to come.

Happy new year to you wherever you're from, wherever else you live and whatever you're (forcibly) eating :)

PS: If anyone thinks of any Dear Karunanidhi jokes I haven't already Tweeted, email me!
