Varaadha da Chellam

Gautam Menon. I used to love you. I'm not sure what's changed - but it's not me, it's you. Two and a half hours of boy-loves-girl, girl-loves-boy, end of story, no other point whatsoever? Particularly given Simbhu and Trisha look as in love as I do with a bowl of beetroot? Please oh please bring back the hunky cops!

Vinaithaandi Varuvaaya kinda makes me wish Karthik called the Karthik in this movie and told him to STFU already. Which, btw, is a message someone should also pass on to Trisha. Her yes-I-love-you, no-I-love-you-not should be reserved for ONE flower-petal disembowelment scene. An entire movie it doth not make.

Speaking of entire movies, why did this one feel like about five? Much as we all love the surprise element, I don't think the audience is meant to go 'Oh phew the end. No? There's more? Ok now. Now. Please for the love of God, now.'

In conclusion, even assuming I didn't think G.M. was God and Simbhu just one step behind him, I still, out of all the goodness in my heart, wouldn't recommend this movie to any but the most boring segment of people I know. If the best moment in all that time was Simbhu going 'Don't you have churches in Chennai?,' you can probably imagine.

PS: The music's still good. Get the CD. Avoid piracy.
